We aim to ensure a successful transition for every learner, setting goals that are appropriate, accessible and achievable for each learner.
Our employability and transition programmes start from Year 7. When accompanied by skills for life learnt through Equals, our students leave with the knowledge and support to become a positive member of society, and access the Post-18 provision that suits them best.

We follow a person-centred approach, with the student’s needs and aspirations as our focus.

We work directly with families and external agencies and, where appropriate, a level-6 careers advisor.
With our students’ opinions at the heart of our transition programme, we offer them the opportunity to have a voice in their current opportunities, and their futures.
All students in Years 8-13 are entitled to a quality programme of careers education, customised to the student’s individual needs. As a school, we are working towards achieving all eight of the Gatsby benchmarks. This is achieved by offering careers support and opportunities to all students, so our career and employability opportunities at Wren are adapted to allow all students to access them.

For those learners who aim to access college, work, supported internships, or an apprenticeship, we have developed smaller groups that give students the opportunity to access career-related activities.
Our employability group follows a comprehensive scheme of work to equip students for the world of work.
Whilst students may access work through a supported setting, the employability curriculum allows students to gain an understanding of the fundamentals of working.
Additionally, students will cover topics such as:
Our enterprise group allows students to:
Any profits raised are re-invested into the scheme.
Through enterprise, learners have the opportunity to:
Our phonics and numeracy lessons are run as small intervention groups for students who require these skills.
These skills are then utilised and developed through skills for life, employability and enterprise sessions.
We follow the Sounds-Write phonics programme; an expertly structured programme, designed by teachers.
Learners in the KS3 follow an Equals-based curriculum, with elements continuing to be covered in KS4 and KS5.
Learners follow the pre-formal, semiformal or formal provision, based on their provision.
The Equals curriculum offers learners skills for life opportunities, including:
Learners’ needs, wishes and opinions are listened to, ensuring our students have their voice heard when it comes to their post-18 destination.
Transition events are held annually, inviting multiple local providers to attend; these are successful events that have provided parents and carers with contacts to post-18 provisions.
The school has frequent contact and support from the Kettering adult-transition team, offering advice and support continually throughout the transition process.
All Creating Tomorrow school and college learners have a wide range of future destinations depending on their need. Our Futures Hub offers a wide range of information about destinations and support available, whether it's a career, education or social care.
There's information on everything you need to know plus learner stories looking at different options and outcomes.
