Family Letter 10th July 2020

I hope this letter finds you safe and well. Thank you for your continued support.
Please let me start the letter by highlighting that the safety of our students and staff is
the most important element of our work in these unprecedented times.

am delighted to announce that we will be opening school on September 2nd for all
students as per Government guidance. I have to add a note of caution though that
this is based on the guidance as it stands today. If I receive any changing guidance
in August, I will inform you all.

Our school does look different from the last time your child was at school. The
differences in schools are:

  • Staff and children will be in an allocated bubble
  • Staff will wear full PPE
  • Social distancing will be followed
  • Soft furnishing and resources have been removed
  • Handwashing for all will be regularly followed throughout the day

What is a bubble?

Staff and children will be in an allocated ‘bubble’; members of a bubble will not be
able to change or switch between bubbles. This will lower the risk of spreading any
potential infection across the school. Members of bubbles will only be able to access
certain areas of the school, such as, their classroom and allocated toilets. The bubble
guidance then means that if someone is confirmed unwell; it is only that bubble that
has to isolate. The plan is for the school to have 5 separate bubbles, but this will
depend on transport.

For September, our risk assessment indicates:

  • No educational visits
  • No swimming or use of shared areas
  • Lunchtimes in classes
  • No visitors on site
  • New infection control guidelines- temperature checks will be happening daily
  • No soft items from home to be bought into school with the children (soft toys)

This will be reviewed in line with guidance and I will keep you updated on Dojo.
If you have not signed up for Dojo for September, please do this, as this is our new
home school communication tool. I will be able to share videos and photos as well.
Thank you for working with us during this challenging time. We have all missed seeing
the children and families.

The class staff will be calling or emailing you next week to ensure the risk assessments
are ready for September and explaining which bubble your child is in.

The only area I have no control with is transport. We have shared with transport the
bubble groups, as children should travel with their group to reduce risk. They will be in
contact with you during the summer. We will share with you, via the text service next
week, contact info for school staff over the summer holiday.

I wish you a healthy, happy summer holiday and I am very much looking forward to
seeing all the children in September.

Please remember you can contact us via text or email, we are here for you.
