Creating Tomorrow COVID-19 Update
I sincerely hope you are all well and making the most of the sunny weather.
As we move into the May half term, and towards the government’s next phase of recovery from the COVID-19 pandemic, I wanted to let you know what we are doing as a trust.
Phase 2 is the gradual increase of children in schools, however as stated in the last letter; in special schools, we have been asked to continue to follow previous guidance “Conducting a SEND risk assessment during the coronavirus outbreak”, to slowly increase the numbers across all age ranges. Therefore children will only return to school when and if it is safe.
You have played a really important role in supporting us during the last 8 weeks and will be best placed to tell us what your child needs going forward. We are undertaking our recovery planning assessments and would like to gather your thoughts and views to help us plan next steps.
Please take the time to complete this questionnaire, with your child if possible. It is for information only and will be used to help us plan next steps and how to support your child when they return to school.
The document is in word format so you can type straight into it, if you are not able to, then please either:
- write out your answers and send a photo of it via email to your child’s headteacher (address on the survey) or,
- ask for someone to give you a call so you can give your answers over the phone.
I would like to re-iterate that the government has been clear that school leaders, in consultation with the local authority, will make the decision when it is safe for the gradual increase in numbers, however if parents do not wish to send their child back at this point in time there are no penalties.
On another note, for those families in receipt of free school meals, this week’s vouchers include a double amount to cover next week as it is bank holiday on Monday and so we would be unable to access the system.
Once again, as we have said throughout the pandemic, our primary focus is the safety and wellbeing of your child and our staff, and so all decisions will be based on this ethos.
Please look after yourselves and your loved ones
